This is Indian street food in the centre of London’s West End.
Served on small plates, the menu is diverse including
small bites, grills, pots and pan fries.
You have the option to have your meal served with rice or
roomali roti. The later is a must as it’s at the heart of this type of food.
Fluffy, hot rotis are cooked on a tawa (disc-shaped frying pan).
They are then folded into “Hankies”.
Highlights include Chilli Lamb Chops and the Morel Kofta.
Make sure to include something curry/sauce based to then
that full advantage of the roti. If I remember correctly, you are
allowed as many needed till your meal is done!
Offering breakfast, lunch and late night food,
there is more than one reason to return.
Hankies also offer a pre-theatre menu that
includes two courses for just £11.
There is also an outlet in Marble Arch that has a fine dining
feel for something more romantic. Valentines anyone?
