Coming to Ibiza in 2023
With the many barriers to career progression in the music industry for black people, there is a large discrepancy between the sounds of Black culture that dominate the music charts and the scarce people being represented behind the scenes which can discourage black talent from entering or staying in the industry. To inspire and celebrate these under-represented people, Jordan Hallpike and Kenny Eshinlokun have created the Black Music Summit – a social enterprise striving towards the global development and celebration of black music talent.
Following a successful soft launch that happened a month ago, the next summit will be located in Ibiza in 2023 where there will be live performances, panel discussions, keynotes, workshops, events and club nights led by industry leaders and influential voices in the community. Co-founder Kenny Eshinlokun commented:
“The BMS will offer Black musicians, creators and music industry professionals the opportunity to be seen and heard and hopefully reducing the amount of future discriminative challenges many Black people in the industry face. I’m excited about the opportunity to collaborate, celebrate and inspire the next generation, whilst showcasing so much amazing talent all in one place,”
