The collection will be unveiled alongside Kim Jones' Pre-Fall line.
Having appointed the help of Eli Russell Linnetz from Los Angeles-based brand ERL for a capsule back in May, Kim Jones has become rather fond of collaborating on smaller collections. Tremaine Emory is the latest name to be given the honour of partnering with the British designer at Dior, presenting his guest-designed collection alongside the Pre-Fall line being shown in Egypt on December 2nd.
This tops off an extremely successful year for the Denim Tears founder, having been announced as Supreme’s creative director earlier this year and the streetwear brand enjoying a rise in popularity since his appointment.
In an interview with WWD, the Atlanta-born designer revealed that the collection will be a homage to black creatives such as Miles Davis and James Baldwin that were celebrated in Europe in the 50s despite the segregation that was occurring in the US. “That romance of being celebrated for who you are, where you are from, the way you live, the way you dressed, your lifestyle and your talents is what we have focused on,” said the designer.
Emory was put in charge of the graphics in the collection through the curation of imagery that he did alongside Jones to discuss American Sportswear and how far it’s come since its initial introduction.
