Angelo Baque founded streetwear brand Awake NY have come out firing for 2023 as the multifaceted fashion brand and general cultural tastemakers unveil their newest collaboration.
Tapping heritage skate brand Vans for this latest creative venture, Awake NY make sure to follow on from their wildly successful 2022, having most recently released collaborative collections with the likes of ASICS and nanamica as well as their own Autumn/Winter 2022 range. This time around, Awake NY have reunited with Vans for two new iterations of the latter’s iconic Old Skool sneaker, having previously linked up in late 2021 for collaborative versions of the Sk8-Hi sneaker. These two pairs are inspired by downtown New York City and its prominent 90s skate, punk and Hip-Hop culture, with both iterations utilising a mixed suede and canvas upper composition, hits of the capsule’s signature yellow and black cow print, which arrives on the quarter panels and collars of both pairs, as well as debossed Awake NY heel branding. The first of the two rocks a lilac Vans stripe along the midfoot and an emerald green suede across the toe box and heel, whilst the second iteration features simple black additions. Completing the pairs, traditional gum soles, white midsoles, and white laces round-out the collaboration’s main highlights.
The Awake NY x Vans Old Skool capsule will be available to buy via the Awake NY website on January 6th.
