Redefining Menswear at Louis Vuitton

This year, Pharrell Williams redefined the typical menswear clothes through a series of standout collaborations, capsules and moves as the Creative Director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line. From hosting a landmark show at UNESCO to teaming up with industry icons like Tyler, The Creator for a collection capsule (that we are still obsessed with), Timberland, and recently Takashi Murakami, Pharrell brought his innovative vision to life. These partnerships elevated Louis Vuitton’s cultural significance and drove significant revenue growth, solidifying the brand’s dominance in the luxury market under his leadership.
Pharrell also expanded his creative influence by unveiling his first fragrance for Louis Vuitton, a blend of luxury and personal artistry, signing new house ambassadors for the house like Callum Turner, Pusha T and more. Additionally, he introduced the playful Dog LVers Spring/summer pre-collection, inspired by New York’s dandy culture, merging functionality with sophistication for urban dog enthusiasts. These achievements highlighted Pharrell’s exceptional ability to be playful and creating experiences.

Fashion Week by Pharrell

Moments of the year should go straight to the shows held this year, with Pharrell Williams opening the season at Men’s Paris Fashion Week. His highly anticipated Fall-Winter 2024 collection for Louis Vuitton was a vibrant and bold celebration of the American spirit, set against the dramatic silhouette of the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. The show, a fusion of Wild West Americana and modern luxury, reflected Pharrell’s distinct vision, with Native American designs woven into scarves, bags, and blankets. These intricate patterns, created in collaboration with Dakota and Lakota Nation artists, told stories of heritage and resilience, encapsulating Pharrell’s desire to honor the Native American spirit. As Rebecca Brady, a Native American artist involved in the collection, stated, Pharrell’s work aimed to showcase that “we’re still here, we’re still resilient.”

For the second show of this year, Pharrell Williams presented Louis Vuitton’s spring-summer 2025 menswear collection on the UNESCO building in Paris. The venue itself was symbolic, aligning perfectly with the collection’s title, “Le Monde est à Vous” – or “The World is Yours” – which embodied a message of global unity, wanderlust, and luxury, core values that are deeply ingrained in the Louis Vuitton DNA. UNESCO, known for its efforts in promoting peace through culture, provided the ideal backdrop for this theme. Pharrell’s influence extended far beyond the garments themselves. He produced the show’s soundtrack, with three original pieces performed live by a choir and orchestra, adding an emotional layer to the collection.

HUMANRACE

In 2024, Pharrell Williams expanded the influence of his Humanrace brand with a series of innovative launches that reflected his dedication to sustainability, wellness, and cultural impact. Early in the year, Pharrell unveiled a limited-edition skincare collection celebrating his career and legacy. Known for his flawless complexion and advocacy for self-care, Pharrell infused the collection with natural, eco-conscious ingredients, offering simple yet effective products. This release served as a manifesto for responsible beauty, embodying his pioneering approach to fashion and wellness. Additionally, Humanrace partnered with evian to introduce the “Fountain of Youth” water bottles, underscoring the essential role of hydration in skincare and self-care routines.
The year also saw Pharrell deepen his collaboration with adidas through the release of the Humanrace Samba “Colors Pack”, featuring six vibrant, monochromatic colorways ideal for spring and summer. Building on the previous year’s success, this collection captured Pharrell’s eye for design and cultural relevance. Additionally, a notable collaboration with Tyler, the Creator’s le FLEUR brand introduced a signature green nail polish, marking Humanrace’s first foray into beauty beyond skincare. These projects highlighted Pharrell’s ability to seamlessly blend innovation, artistry, and sustainability, leaving a lasting impression on the worlds of fashion and beauty.

The LEGO Biopic

Pharrell Williams’ animated biopic, Piece by Piece, hit theaters on October, offering a unique retelling of his life and career entirely in LEGO blocks. The film stood out as an unconventional approach to documenting an artist’s journey, with Pharrell’s story unfolding through  LEGO scenes. It took viewers from his early life, where he was often called an “odd kid,” to his groundbreaking success in music and fashion. The biopic featured a number of Pharrell’s real-life collaborators, including Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Timbaland, and Jay-Z, who appeared in the narrative. LEGO translated Pharrell’s emotions into a colorful, dreamlike landscape, vividly illustrating his connection to music, which he described as seeing “hues of light” when he listened to it.
The biopic shed light on Pharrell’s journey from his beginnings in music to his influential role in fashion and beauty, reinforcing his identity as a visionary. The movie, much like his work in fashion and music, proved that Pharrell was not just an artist but a force of innovation, committed to staying true to his creative convictions and inspiring others across multiple industries.

Tiffany & Co Partnership

Pharrell Williams made a significant mark in the jewelry world with his debut collection for Tiffany & Co., titled Tiffany Titan. As the Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director, Pharrell’s partnership with the iconic brand further showcased his versatility as a multi-hyphenate creative. His affinity for natural diamonds and longstanding connection to Tiffany & Co. played a key role in the development of the collection, which combined luxury with his distinctive approach to design.

Met Gala Co-Chair Announcement

Pharrell Williams was announced as the co-chair for the 2025 Met Gala, marking his sixth appearance at the iconic event and his second time in this prominent role. The announcement was made during the unveiling of the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. The exhibition, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, would explore the influence of Black dandyism on fashion, showcasing garments, paintings, and photographs that reflect its evolution from the 18th century to the present day.
Pharrell’s role as co-chair added to his long-standing influence in fashion, further cementing his status as a tastemaker who continues to shape global style. The 2025 Met Gala chairs included Domingo, Hamilton, and A$AP Rocky, all of whom, like Pharrell, are known for their distinctive fashion impact.
