PFW: Glen Martens’ Couture Debut at Maison Margiela Fall/Winter 2025

On Wednesday evening in Paris, Maison Margiela presented its debut Couture collection under new Creative Director Glen Martens.

The collection was a daring masquerade of artisanal flair, featuring sculptural silhouettes, intricate embroidery and experimental materials that lifted a new veiling of couture dressing. This much-anticipated debut exceeded expectations, reaffirming Martens’ evolution from Jean Paul Gaultier’s protégé to a visionary in his own right. With an invigorating approach, Martens injected new energy into the brand, introducing daring textiles, corseted structures, elaborate beadwork, and theatrical staging that reignited excitement around high fashion. Sustainability and reinvention played a central role. The Fall/Winter 2025 collection spotlighted the house’s commitment to upcycling and material reimagination, integrating modern eco-conscious practices with Margiela’s storied artisanal heritage.

Last night’s debut resonated deeply with Margiela’s original 1989 ethos proving that Martens is more than capable of steering the house into a bold, imaginative future.
