On the last day of LCM, the highly anticipated Burberry SS15 show promised to celebrate Britishness, craftsmanship and music.
Set in Kensington Gardens, and the sun finally being out for London Collections: Men, the location was great. Burberry always go further than most with their shows and with a live performance from Benjamin Clemantine being the soundtrack to the show, couple with the hand painted runway, it was always going to special.
Prominent colours on the catwalk were peppermint greens, deep red and sky blues, as well as the expected tones of white, navy and sandy browns. All the colours were very reflective of season and complimented the collection well.
Key items from the collection are hi-vis hats, coming in an array of colours, floppy bucket hats and new multi-tone trainers. The iconic and classic Burberry mac was looking as great as always during the show and comes in a range of spring/summer shades. Other new elements were colour leather jackets and subtle layering, pairing denim jackets with their simplistic one colour t-shirts and shirts with prints that celebrate British tailoring . PAUSE especially liked the white denim jacket, with black button detail.
Arguably one of the biggest surprises was the introduction of a deep red duffle coat with wooden toggles.
A PAUSE styling tip is the ‘mankle’. Trousers at the Burberry SS15 show sat just above the ankle allowing for a more casual look when wearing trousers. This also means socks are no longer needed. We love the mankle style and should definitely be embraced now and in SS15.
Onto accessories in the show, there were oversized messenger and tote bags, light text decorated scarves and of course, the hats. The show delivered what we were expecting, a clean and celebratory collection of Britain and British fashion in bold colour.
