Nylon is the new plastic.
In 2020, New York City banned the distribution of most single-use plastic carryout bags. Five years on, TELFAR – the fashion label founded by designer Telfar Clemens in 2005 – reintroduces the so-called ‘Plastic Bag’: crafted entirely from 100% nylon, this playful throwback revives the iconic disposable silhouette once seen all over the city’s streets.
TELFAR’s spin on the classic New York sidewalk staple comes double-lined, with ruched elastic handles, tonal seams, and a roomy interior. Functional details include two deep side pockets (perfect for water bottles), a zip pocket, a slit pocket, and a discreet stash pocket.
Designed to carry anything and everything, the bag is both a witty nod to everyday style and a highly practical accessory. It arrives in two sizes: the regular – roomy enough for a 13” laptop and daily essentials – priced at $148, and the jumbo – carry-on ready – at $195.
Available in eleven signature New York TELFAR prints, from the smiley face plastic bag motif to the iconic “Thank You for Shopping” design, the drop also includes four matching T-shirts featuring select prints for head-to-toe coordination.
The TELFAR Plastic Bag lands exclusively on telfar.net on 15th August, with an in-store release following next week.
