Tommy Hilfiger dives back into its sailing roots with the launch of the Tommy X U.S. SailGP Team capsule collection – a line that fits seamlessly at the intersection of high-performance sport and modern style.
Sailing has been stitched into TOMMY HILFIGER’s DNA since 1985, when maritime signal flags inspired the brand’s now-iconic red, white and blue logo, complete with founder Thomas Jacob Hilfiger’s initials. Fuelled by a love for the freedom, energy and adventure of the open water, the label debuted its first Sailing Gear collection in the early ’90s.
That connection sails forward into 2025, with TOMMY HILFIGER’s multi-year partnership with the U.S. SailGP Team. Dubbed “the most exciting race on water,” SailGP is an adrenaline-fueled sport where 12 F50 catamarans speed up to 100 km/h across destinations like Sydney, Saint-Tropez and New York.
Drawing on the brand’s archives, the capsule blends timeless nautical cues with technical upgrades. Standout pieces include a heavy-duty, colour-blocked flag jacket crafted from a three-layer fabric with a water-resistant finish; a piqué performance polo in sweat-wicking fabric with UV protection; and an athletic ripstop sailing jacket with wind-blocking mesh lining. For downtime, there’s a heavyweight knit hoodie, graphic tees and a colour-blocked sweater – all race-ready yet street-approved.
