PAUSE Visits: The Hoxton — Holborn

By September 29, 2025Hotels & Stays, LIFESTYLE

Where London checks in, hangs out, and stays the night.

Holborn has always been a meeting point, where the City fades into the West End, and students, lawyers, tourists and office workers all cross and share the same paths. The Hoxton, Holborn leans into that energy, offering a hotel that feels open, lively, and firmly plugged into the rhythm of central London.

When I first walked past, I almost missed the entrance. The constant flow of people — guests arriving, freelancers hunched over laptops, locals meeting for coffee or cocktails — blurred the line between hotel and hangout. It was a Friday evening, after all.

The lobby sets the tone. This isn’t a hushed check-in desk but a buzzing living room: leather chairs, parquet floors, and shelves stacked with books and curiosities. You do have to weave your way to the back to check in, but by then you’ve already absorbed the point, The Hoxton feels more like a neighbourhood hang-out than a traditional hotel.

Upstairs, the rooms are compact but thoughtful. Oversized headboards, heavy curtains and soft beds make the most of the space, while retro artwork and brass fittings add personality. Everything is designed to be both functional and stylish, without unnecessary fuss.

Staff move at the same pace as the guests, efficient without being too formal, always ready with recommendations for what to do nearby. And that’s part of the charm. The Hoxton doesn’t try to insulate you from London; it places you right in the middle of it. Covent Garden, Soho and the British Museum are all within walking distance, though the hotel itself is comfortable enough to tempt you to linger a little longer.

So whether you’re staying overnight, dropping in for a meal, or just having a drink in its golden-lit lobby, The Hoxton, Holborn captures the essence of central London: energetic, eclectic, and alive at every turn.
