Unveiled at Art Basel.

It’s been a great week in the art world! If you aren’t familiar with its game, Art Basel Paris is well-known for being an epicenter where the worlds of art, craft, and fashion meet, making it the perfect time for luxury brands to unveil major collaborations. This year the iconic duo, Louis Vuitton and artist Takashi Murakami renewed their legendary partnership by unveiling the new Artycapucines VII collection.

The centrepiece of Louis Vuitton’s presentation is a spectacular, custom-made installation on the Balcon d’Honneur: an eight-metre-high octopus sculpture inspired by Chinese lanterns. This monumental artwork, which showcases the artist’s iconic Jellyfish Eyespattern, is where the 11 unique Artycapucines VII bags are displayed, their designs adorned with Murakami’s signature motifs like Mr. DOB, Smiling Flowers, and the Superflat Panda. The octopus’s tentacles perfectly frame the exhibition, creating an immersive, vibrant world that also features several of Murakami’s Plush Ball sculptures, reinforcing the kaleidoscopic aesthetic that defines the new collection.
