Demeulemeester goes dreamy.
Ann Demeulemeester has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2026 campaign, taking its latest collection to the seaside town of Margate. Shot against the town’s old houses, quiet streets and endless blue sea, the project follows two young figures as they move through the landscape, dressed in the label’s latest looks. The story asks: “Is it a dream?”
“Their faces give nothing away. Blank stares; distant, almost absent gazes, as if they are looking at something others cannot see,” a note from the brand reads. “Perhaps they are remembering another life, a former love, a summer that has already happened somewhere else.”
The clothes move with the pair as they walk through the seaside town, with the wind lifting the tail of a black velvet dress. Loose shirts, silk scarves, ribbons and distressed T-shirts add movement, while the coastal setting brings a sense of calm to the release.
“Time seems to have stopped somewhere in between seasons,” the press release continues, describing the pair as “detached, almost dreamlike” as they make their way through Margate.
However, they do not seem to be going anywhere. Perhaps that is the point. For Ann Demeulemeester, Margate becomes a place where the usual rules of time seem to disappear, leaving the drop sitting somewhere between a memory and a fantasy.
