Fashion Week is here; we know, so many shows, collections, and unexpected collaborations dropping at once. But if you missed it yesterday, during the MM6 Maison Margiela Spring/Summer 2027 show, the house and Havaianas revealed a first look at their upcoming collaboration on the runway. At first glance, the pairing might seem unlikely, but the collection makes perfect sense through MM6’s instinct for deconstruction and Havaianas’ instantly recognisable flip-flop. The result is a playful exercise in repetition, distortion and multiplication, all centred around one very specific number: six. Leading the collaboration are the Slim 6Toe, a bare-foot-inspired silhouette complete with a surreal sixth toe, and the Top 6Layers, an intentionally exaggerated platform made by stacking six differently shaped Havaianas soles.
The number six becomes the thread running through the wider collaboration, naturally referencing MM6 while giving Havaianas’ familiar codes a new visual language. Across the collection, the classic rubber sandal is reworked through unexpected proportions and repeated elements, reflecting MM6’s approach to garments as pieces that are completed and transformed by the person wearing them. Here, Havaianas provides the instantly recognisable starting point, while MM6 challenges what that icon can become. The full collaboration is set to arrive in May 2027, although the runway-exclusive Top 6Layers will remain exactly, like a one-off expression created for the show and not available for purchase
