In search of a product with both value and high quality, which truly justify the use of the word luxury. Erik Bjerkesjö‘s shoes are handmade treasures with unmistakable traditional mastery. Everything is manually produced by himself together with craftsmen in Italy and each detail is part of the weeks long design process.
“Each pair of shoes is made with careful detailed attention and focused artisanal craftsmanship. The process begins in the clicking room, where the leather elements are cut out and placed in the production room, where threads are made and the leather swatches are hand-sewn together. Finally the completed segments of the upper shoe are united and are shaped in the lasting room. After this conscientious process, the signature stitching process suffuses the shoe with a great deal of it’s character”.
Erik’s personal and professional story combines Sweden and Italy, two countries both well known for great craft traditions. He has always felt a passion for real and authentic things, no matter if it’s about music, art, food or architecture. This attitude is clearly shown in his own work together with a strong will to create something real.
Even though he likes the craft traditions, Erik is always pushing himself to learn more and develop in new directions. Perhaps this is why his work often is described as modern classics and a reason it’s interesting to wait and see what comes out from his Atelier next.
