By July 10, 2013Fashion News

There is something special about themes that are successfully translated through another medium and such is the case the brand AMI by Alexandre Mattiussi has greatly done so with the look book of his spring summer collection premeditated for 2014.

Implemented throughout is the theme of transport and traveling with the settings/ location closely resembling Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport during the 70’s.  The theme is cleverly incorporated  with the use of props such as retro luggage, luggage trolleys, luggage conveyor belts and even the additional models or ‘extras’ to create and portray a realistic scenery.  The silhouettes of classic cut everyday yet  tailored garments have somewhat been modified with the accents and combinations of recent trends such as camouflage and floral prints, stripes, tropic colour ways of olive green, khaki green, wine red, mustard and light blues all stylishly combined with  Parisian flair.

The star element is most obviously the bold floral motif; Mattiussi concerning this coming collection said:

This print from this season is very summery, and because summer gets shorter and shorter every year I like to keep that holiday feeling when I’m back in Paris. This print was designed by Jeremy Schneider, who’s an artist and illustrator I love working with. He created the jungle print, which can be seen on sweatshirts, shirts and accessories.

With that being said, it is evident Mattiussi really is pushing forward the idea of  that summertime energy right through winter into the beginnings of next year with this collection. This makes for developed fashion that still translates into smart casual outfits, while the vibrant colours  provide an alternative  from the usual and typical dark tones that usually resonate with winter and early spring.

The strength of the collection is that it is both eye catching and presentable. Accessories and footwear are also included in the collection.
