NYFW: Opening Ceremony AW14 Show

By February 12, 2014Fashion Shows

Belgium, in specifically, Anterp-ian, were the main inspiration for the OPENING CEREMONY’S collection. Antwerp is derived from the dutch hand werpen, meaning hand thrown. The theme of hands became evident through this as a Belgium myth once told of a giant guarding the river who would cut off peoples hands.

To compliment the theme of the collection, there were 4000 pounds worth of chocolate and a 160-foot wall carved into the shape of a finger print. All uniquely made for this amazing event.
With jumpers and parkers smothered in fingerprints, this collection is clearly unique. The colors chosen to represent the bleak winter are no doubt originals. Grey and black are complimented by other colours: mostly shades of green and blue.
Essentials lines, technical textiles and zips instead of more classic buttons are all  unique signs of this amazing male collection. PAUSE‘s favourite pieces from this collection are the fingerprint jumpers matched with the same printed trousers. They represent a style of innovation, youth and bravery. Even the colours can be related to this youthful movement, which leaves the classical colours behind in the past, and is looking for something new: white, orange and blue-green are the three alternatives proposed by the american brand and we love the contrast!
