As the warm weather leaves us for another year, PAUSE has highlighted some key pieces for you to rock in the month of September, a transitional month from summer to autumn/winter.
Turtlenecks
Gone is the old connotation of the roll neck. Now a key piece for the month of September and going into the rest of 2014, the turtleneck is a simple and basic item to wear. Not overly thick, but giving you the extra warmth you’ll need for the cooler months. Easy to pair up with both casual and smart outfits, and with it being a blank canvas, try to switch it up with some cool jewellery.
Long sleeve t-shirts
Spring/Summer ’14 saw the rise of the extended length t-shirt. September is the perfect month to swap your short sleeves for long. There are a number of high street stores that are now releasing their long sleeve range, such as Topman, ASOS and also luxury streetwear brand ADYN.
Sunglasses
Although the warm weather is now leaving us that doesn’t mean you can’t rock some sunglasses. Hazy sunshine whilst on the way to work or on weekend trips away, can be a pain so make sure you’ve still got your summer shades so you don’t get caught out or pick up some new styles for autumn/winter. PAUSE recommends trying some rounded sunglasses.
Light jackets
It’s not quite time yet for the thick parka and long coat, but you don’t want to be disadvantaged when the weather turns cold or starts to rain. Perhaps you should keep a light rain jacket in your bag to slip on when the weather takes a turn for the worse. September can be unpredictable, which means you’ve got to be prepared for pretty much anything when planning your outfits.
Trilby hats
Our favourite new accessory. The Trilby. Near enough all of the PAUSE team has been wearing a Trilby this summer and you can guarantee you’ll see plenty more being released over the coming months. Plus, if it is a little chilly, wearing a hat is an instant boost in warmth!
PAUSE Tip: Layer up
With the weather changing and getting cooler, it’s one of the first chances to layer your outfits. We love layering as it gives you a great opportunity to get creative with your looks. Mix and match patterns, materials and colour!
