“Where East meets West”: CMMN SWDN’s Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund perfectly summed up the label’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection. With the dynamic palette of orange, red and brown reminding us of the breathtaking landscapes of North Africa, the energy of the collection definitely brought us far away from the mixed weather of London, for a moment.
The first thing to be noticed in the colourful Soho’s studio where CMMN SWDN delivered the “Market Rodeo” collection, was obviously the breath of fresh air that carried the Spring/Summer 2017 statement pieces. Along with the striped poplin clothing and the loosen outerwear, Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund worked on a series of relaxed silhouettes, juxtaposing tailored trousers and mesh tank tops or combining a fringed colour block jacket with a pair of distressed effect white jeans. With the soft touch of pink over the Spring/Summer 2017 collection, CMMN SWDN is to keep an eye upon for transitioning from one season to the other next year.
