Givenchy are back for SS17, with their inspiration stemming from an unlikely source.
The Spring 2017 pre-collection, entirely envisioned by Creative Director Riccardo Tisci, appears to be an exploration of influences deriving from 90’s underground culture and ‘the skinhead’ scene. It features apparel such as work-wear jackets, over-sized parkas and striped track bottoms. SS17 also appears to present a range of encrusted bomber jackets and leather infested coats – all retaining that underground streetwear aesthetic. Predominantly black, with exceptions of red and white bands explicitly displaying the Givenchy name and complete with Givenchy labelled face masks, the collection takes streetwear luxe to an entirely new level.
