South Korean designer SONGZIO rocked the LCM stage with an Ocean inspired SS17.
The collection showcased on Monday 13th June and marks an almost debut for SONGZIO as the designer has yet to unveil a collection outside the confines of Paris Men’s Fashion Week in the past 10 years. ‘Ocean’, the name of SONGZIO’s SS17 offering, is inspired predominantly by the designer’s own artworks and features a range of Pollock-like graphics reminiscent of brush strokes and oil paint textures.
Ocean, initially appears to be relatively monochromatic however gradually transforms from black and white to a colour palette inclusive of deep sea blues, aquas and tinges of green and yellow. There is a clear juxtaposition of subtle, clean-cut pieces with art-inspired graphic led garments throughout and as a result, fuses together to create an exhilarating collection. According to SONGZIO, this juxtaposition is influenced by London as a whole – aiming to recreate the opposing essences of modern and traditional, that our very city has to offer.
