Burberry embraces the see-now-buy-now model.
Christopher Bailey presented the heritage brand’s very first see-now-buy-now collection at Makers House on Monday. One of the few brands to have adopted the model this season, the Burberry Fall collection will be available to buy straight away, and we can expect to see more and more designers embracing this new instant way of presenting collections in the near future. As for the clothes, Bailey took inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s novel, ‘Orlando: A biography’, a book about a poet who transcends genders and lives through many centuries. Elizabethan detailing infiltrated the collection, such as ruffled accordion shirt collars and floral prints that feel as though they were ripped right out of the Golden Age. These were juxtaposed by present-day trends such as shearling jackets and oversized sweatshirts with billowing sleeves. Pieces that combined both the present and the past in perfect harmony were a romantic shirt in a blue and white pinstripe and a pair of olive green baroque print trousers.
