PFW: Dries Van Noten Autumn/Winter 2017 Collection

AW17 for Dries Van Noten couldn’t have been further from the loud, brash nature of the current fashion landscape. While the Belgian designer is well known for his avant-garde, creative and unique designs – this season we saw the more practical side of the Antwerp six’s shining star.

Sophisticated double breasted coats, nostalgic knitwear, exquisite tailoring and a plethora of other wardrobe essentials formed a collection that could easily transcend the wardrobes of most menswear aesthetics. While the Vetements styled fashion week wannabe labels scramble for attention with oversized sleeves and controversial model choices, the old-school behemoths simply show us stylish garments, done well.

While it’s unlikely Dries will continue down the path of a more wearable, subdued lineup; it’s most certainly likely that this could be one of his most commercially successful yet. Now, the countdown to store drop begins…
