visvim, the Japanese label headed by Hiroki Nakamura, has always had strong ties to ancient Japanese culture and craftsmanship. So it comes as no surprise that this dissertation series by the brand, dubbed ‘Survey’, focusses on delivering a whirlwind history lesson in traditional Japanese culture and heritage design motifs. The latest instalment in the series delivers an insight into ‘boro’, a symbol of Japanese folk art which features re-weaved patchwork and can be seen in many of vidvim’s previous garments.
