John Lawrence Sullivan gets surreal with formal wear for S/S 18 collection.
Tailoring is the main focus by John Lawrence Sullivan in new collection and its hard to not look back the 80’s inspired looks throughout. Yet the formal looks have been given the typical Sullivan twist that he is renowned for; double breasted suits have had the sleeves stripped and the trousers given a wide leg. These looks are surreal to say the least and are reminiscent of Balenciaga’s work last season. Next seasons street wear will definitely feature a flip on formal wear, with sleeveless being a key piece in any wardrobe to make a statement.
Sullivan also has the message ‘Kafkacsk‘ featured throughout the collection; a shout out or homage to philosopher and political theorist Franz Kafka who was known for his senseless, disorientating and often menacing self complex and this new collection by Sullivan definitely pertains these messages throughout.
