Calvin Klein x Andy Warhol ‘Kiss’ Collection

Raf Simons continues to celebrate Calvin Klein’s New York heritage and American identity by using the art of Andy Warhol to adorn classic Calvin Klein pieces for a creative new capsule collection.

Taking two uncanny black and white frames from Warhol’s 1963 film ‘Kiss’; the shots which exhibit a male and female kissing are printed upon underwear and t-shirts. Although white cotton t-shirts are simply enhanced through a printed image of Warhol’s work upon the front, the trunks, bralet and bikini innovatively layer the imagery underneath the classic Calvin Klein waistband – generating a contemporary line of underwear.

Reference to the ‘Kiss’ film, a remarkable moving-image art piece that defied Hollywood norms and filmmaking rules, is only the beginning of this season’s Warhol wave. Calvin Klein SS18 is infused with salutes to the sensational creative symbolising Raf Simon’s appreciation of the pop-art pioneer.
