The young Fashion Designers’ competition is open to designers from every country who have produced at least two collections and who are under 40, this of course opens the doors to a lot of designers entering, and since the winner gains not only 300,000 euros but also personalised technical and financial support from the group for a 12-month period following the LVMH Prize award, there is no shortage of applicants.
So after initially receiving over 1,300 applicants in total LVMH whittled the number of designers down to just 20, and after delivering a presentation in front of a judging committee that includes the likes of J.W. Anderson, Haider Ackermann, Nicolas Ghesquire, Marc Jacobs and Maria Grazia Chiuri the number was meant to be cut down yet again to just 8. However, due to the tough competition there has instead been 9 finalists put through. At this point the applicants can’t do a huge amount more as the winner will be flat-out chosen and awarded the prize at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. Below you can get a look at who those finalists are.
