Inspired by the game of basketball
Les Benjamins presents “Road to Ball”, its SS19 collection inspired by the balance between mind, body and soul in the game of basketball while unfolding the untold stories of youth culture.
Bunyamin Aydin, founder and creative director of the brand, re-contextualises familiar basketball codes, presenting them in a multicultural setting, prompting the wearer to create their own narrative and own their own identity, references, associations and meaning.
With a theme of deconstructed sportswear hybrids, Les Benjamins sets a new standard in merging Japanese workwear with athleisure, thus, creating new proportions and functions. Designing the lineup to narrate the cycle of a basketball game, the collection’s garments are designed to last, both on the court and on the streets.
Incorporating a brand new typographic print logo on a range of basketball court-inspired designs, The Road to Ball collection sticks to clean tonal colourways, featuring grey hues and bone whites paired with jazzy pops of neon citrus, cobalt blue and gym red. The collection utilises an ingenious mixture of natural fabrics, using fibres and rip stop tech threads to craft kimono sleeved or wide shoulder jackets, loose fit jumpers, wide-leg pants, crop tops, cycling shorts and special camouflage and pinstripe patterned shorts that feature hand crafted knot details.
