“About Time: Fashion and Duration."
The biggest fashion event of the year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Gala’s 2020 theme has recently been unveiled to be titled “About Time: Fashion and Duration.”
Taking a look back at fashion from the 1870s to coincide with the MET Museum’s 150th anniversary the new installation will employ the perspective of philosopher Henri Bergson and his concept of “la durée – time that flows, accumulates, and is indivisible” as well as displaying garments from both contemporary and past designers and examining them “through the writings of Virginia Woolf, who will serve as the “ghost narrator” of the exhibition.”
While the unique way in which attendees of the opening Gala interpret the theme in their outfit choice is one thing, those looking to attend the exhibition can see it for themselves from May 7th – September 7th 2020 – buy tickets here.
