Joining a long list of brands who are aiding governments with the fight against the coronavirus outbreak, Burberry is the latest luxury house to announce its support for global efforts against COVID-19.

The heritage British fashion house has promised to fund the University of Oxford’s research into a single-dose vaccine which is currently in the works, and will also donate funds to charities helping tackle the food poverty in the UK. Alongside this, Burberry has also repurposed its iconic Yorkshire factory to make non-surgical gowns and masks for staff and patients and has also pledged to distribute 100,000 much-needed surgical masks to the NHS.

Speaking on the announcement, Burberry CEO Marco Gobbetti said, “The whole team at Burberry is very proud to be able to support those who are working tirelessly to combat COVID-19, whether by treating patients, working to find a vaccine solution or helping provide food supplies to those in need at this time.”
