Zara to Close Over 1,000 Retail Locations and Shift Focus to Online Sales

As the havoc wreaked by the Coronavirus continues to take its toll on the high street, Zara’s parent company Intidex are the latest victim of our new retail landscape, recently announcing they will be closing 1,000 – 1,200 stores with a shift to focusing on online sales.

Thankfully, not the disaster story we’ve seen befall many other well-known retailers, the fashion giant saw a surge in digital sales through April by over 95% – showing people’s appetite for fast fashion is no more satiated than before. with a Speaking on the changes, CEO Pablo Isla commented;

“The overriding goal between now and 2022 is to speed up full implementation of our integrated store concept, driven by the notion of being able to offer our customers uninterrupted service no matter where they find themselves, on any device and at any time of the day”
