The effect of Covid-19 on the fashion industry has led many to re-assess their business plans and to wander away from the traditional. From Gucci announcing a seasonless approach to Dries Van Noten asking for a change in the fashion calendar through an open letter; Versace now joins those who are experimenting with the fashion system by debuting a collection at Milan Fashion Week that will release next month, as opposed to the usual 6-month gap before clothing hits shelves.
The new collection is called “Flash” and the Italian label recruited British rapper AJ Tracey to star in a video that was presented for this Covid-19 friendly fashion week. In the video, AJ is seen walking onto a fashion shoot before speaking to artistic director Donatella Versace and then performing a song while the model Anok Yai dances. Both are wearing matching snakeskin outfits from the new collection.
