The big reveal!
It’s difficult to be surprised whenever Virgil Abloh announces a new collaboration, but it was certainly unexpected when the designer announced he was creating a car together with Mercedes Benz.
After multiple teaser photos, we can finally see the final product of what was initially titled “Project Gledewagon”. Being described as an “art piece” by the German automotive company, Virgil stated in an Instagram post that this car is the result of “studying what luxury may look like in 100 years.”
The Off-Road car, which is Abloh’s take on the iconic G-Class, features a white and blue colour scheme and exists without indicators, outside mirrors and bumper bar. It is a stripped-back version of luxury that focuses on the essential.
Being auctioned for charity as part of Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated on September 14, take a look at the vehicle below.
