PAUSE Picks: 5 Sneaker Releases of the Week

Givenchy has entered into the world of futuristic and abstract slip-on sneakers with its latest model, named the “Monumental”. The Italian-made shoes are crafted from moulded rubber which creates a smooth surface across the upper of the chunky sneaker.

Originally created in 1982 for playing basketball, the Nike Air Force 1 is one of the label’s signature shoes that has stood the test of time. The American label’s latest update on the classic model is to add a reflective material to the swoosh on the side of the shoe along with red detailing.

Balenciaga’s latest chunky sneaker model, the runner, has been given the triple black treatment by the luxury fashion house. Using a mixture of mesh and shiny faux leather on the upper, the sneaker continues creative director Demna Gvasalia’s experimentation with proportions and sculptural shapes in sneakers.

The longstanding collaboration between Comme Des Garcons Play and Converse continues with the latest model to be customised with CDG’s heart logo being the Jack Purcell. First designed in 1935 for playing badminton, the Jack Purcell is part of a long line of sneakers with sporting heritage.

The future of sneakers, this Adidas Ultraboost includes the German brand’s state-of-the-art 4D midsole which is digitally engineered based on 17 years of running data. Combining this technology and focus on comfort with style, the upper comes in a minimal white colourway with reflective three stipe branding on the sides.
