adidas and Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 are long-time collaborators, with their latest effort recruiting footballing icon Zinedine Zidane for the “20 Years: Re-Coded” campaign.
Using the footballing legend as the thematic centre point, this collection looks to explore Zidane’s gravitational energy whilst displaying a sporting aesthetic alongside the brand’s rich history. Yohji Yamaoto explained that “Sport is Y-3. It is the brand’s central essence and inspiration”, and with Zidane’s known history of working with the brand, Y-3 and adidas clearly want to bring the successful past and reimagine it for the present. Incorporating Zidane’s known technique and elegance in the world of football, the collection looks to replicate those characteristics and brings in the exciting new artist Gabriel Moses to capture that through film.
