Beating out seven finalists.
London-based designer Saul Nash has been announced as the 2022 International Woolmark Prize winner, a feat previously achieved by icons such as Yves Saint Laurent, Karl Lagerfeld, and Dion Lee.
Being one of fashion’s most prestigious awards, the International Woolmark Prize looks to highlight global talent in the fashion industry and give these up-and-coming creatives funding to push forward even further. Nash’s ingenious use of merino wool in his final look won him the award, pushing his creative style of innovative, sportswear-inspired menswear, with Nash’s unique intarsia knits, riffs, and ability to make pieces flow with the movement of the human body all being contributing factors in his recent triumph.
When accepting the award in a London ceremony, the young designer graciously stated:
“Words cannot describe what this means to me.”
With this win, Nash is set to be handed $144,000 USD to elevate his brand to the next level.
