Balenciaga Finds Treasure in Trash for their Winter 2022 Pouch

The already infamous Trash Bag Pouch by Balenciaga sells out as pre-orders open.

Since Demna arrived at the helm of Balenciaga in 2015, he has proven that he understands how to erupt premeditated outrage online better than anyone else in the industry. This Winter 2022 collection is no exception as the Spanish Heritage brand released its newest offering: the Trash Pouch.

Originally unveiled this past summer, the recent official pre-order caused a second round of drama that had people all over the internet mocking and criticising the brand for really selling a premium bin bag at a ludicrous $1.8k price tag. But with many of Demna’s creations, his anti-fashion approach towards luxury items has the power to overturn opinions and become the new standard for what’s cool in today’s world. Trash connotations aside, this unstructured pouch is made of calfskin leather with a nylon lining and removable, leather drawstrings.

Whether it’s worth the price tag is up to the consumer but this bag is definitely a statement, representing rebellion in a tongue-in-cheek manner that perfectly resembles the ethos Demna has created at Balenciaga. Check out some shots of the style in action below.
