Football and fashion have crossed over more than ever in recent times with collaborations between Daily Paper and Ajax for their 2022/23 third kit and ‘Blokecore’ – a football-inspired style trend – being one of the menswear trends of the summer. However, football is now making its way to luxury fashion thanks to AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his close friendship with founders Dean and Dan Caten from DSQUARED2.
The collaborative effort titled ‘Black on Black’ is an embodiment of the Swedish footballer’s personal style and personality, featuring attire for any occasion whether it be sportswear, eveningwear or even beachwear. As the title suggests, the capsule is entirely black with the footballer’s nickname ‘Ibra’ – a running motif in many of the casual pieces such as caps, bomber jackets and t-shirts. Eveningwear is a mix of modern and traditional cuts, with contemporary pieces bedazzled in tonal crystals for an understated shimmer. Footwear is also included to match all the styles in the collection.
