Axel Arigato has always been renowned for perfectly fusing their minimal Scandi aesthetic with rich vintage references and their new silhouette dubbed the Area sneaker is no exception. Taking from 90s basketball and skate culture, the shoe offers the right mix of nostalgia and modernism through tasteful subtle details that really make the new release, a timeless model.
The top-tier craftsmanship that the Swedish brand has been known for is carried on here with the shoe being handmade in Portugal and using a combination of leather sourced from LWG and recycled polyester from PET bottles. The expanded rubber soles are done in an off-white, cream colour to create a vintage look and feel whilst the nostalgia is carried on through the upper with a cursive, metallic gold Arigato logo on the sidewall and the addition of perforated leather on the retro-inspired panelling. Lateral piping and rubber hits on the heel counter also allow for an added contrast that can be seen in all colourways.
