After 27 Beautiful Years.
In an Instagram post on Monday afternoon, Raf Simons announced that the recent Spring/Summer 2023 show in London would be the last for his eponymous label, after being founded back in 1995.
The legendary label has been influential, to say the least, being one of the pioneers of street style in the high fashion context through iconic collections such as ‘Riot! Riot!Riot!’ from Autumn 2001 or Spring 2002’s ‘Woe Unto Those Who Spit on the Fear Generation… The Wind Will Blow It Back’.
The fashion world has reacted with sadness and despair but this isn’t the end for Raf Simons himself, still hard at work at Prada and receiving wide-spread praise for his evolving collections. There’s no indication of what comes next for the Belgian designer but his creativity and innovation has stood for over 30 years so don’t rule him out just yet.
