Shannon Abloh is Determined to Finish What her Husband Started

Talking to The New York Times in her First Interview.

The late Virgil Abloh is a pioneer that transcended fashion to become what he liked to describe as a ‘maker’. Often lauded for being one of the most productive people in the creative industry, not only does he have an extremely stacked portfolio but a plethora of works that have yet to see the light of day. As someone that intentionally stayed away from the spotlight and the multiple worlds the legendary designer immersed himself in, this left his wife Shannon Abloh in a very difficult position as she speaks to The New York Times in her first interview. However, she took it upon herself to step up and honour her late husband’s vast legacy that he left behind, saying she knew “every inch of his brain” after more than 20 years together.

In this interview conducted by Vanessa Friedman, Ms Abloh opens up about the hardships of his passing, anecdotes about their time together as well as the “50-year plan” scheduled for all of his unreleased projects. She also touches on Virgil Abloh Securities, an establishment to unite all of his creative ventures, and what she hopes will be an annual four-day festival that will be presented this week for Miami Art Week to celebrate Mr Abloh’s work and life.
