The Future of Footwear?
Whilst not necessarily being a brand new innovation, 3D printed footwear is certainly making its way into the mainstream as several high-end fashion house utilise the technology, with edgy outdoor lifestyle brand RAINS debuting a new pair on the Paris Fashion Week runway.
Having recently been spotted in Dior’s recent PFW show as well, 3D printed footwear looks here to stay as RAINS unveil their collaborative efforts with 3D footwear’s leading light: Zellerfield. After previous team-ups with the likes of Heron Preston and KidSuper, Zellerfield are continuing down this futuristic path, with this latest creative venture seeing them and RAINS take on a uniquely-sculptured ‘Puffer Boot’. Opting for a robust aesthetic, one that has been taking luxury footwear by storm this season, this silhouette boasts a dark grey colour scheme and resembles a sculpted artefact in its shape, with a 90% air printed puffer instep making this pair almost as lightweight as possible. Additionally, the pair are labour-free in their composition and still maintain 3D printing’s mono-material and environmentally-friendly benefits.
