Breaking the Rules of Fashion.
In the pursuit of literally stripping the seriousness away from fashion, Florence-based label Avavav presented a breathtaking show at Milan Fashion Week which challenged the status quo of what a fashion show is meant to be.
Models on the runway were seen dropping accessories, breaking heels and ripping tops as they walked down the stage but, why? The collection titled “Fake it til you break it” pokes fun at the seriousness of the fashion industry, with the creative director Beate Karlsson exploring the theme of shame and concluding that the most embarrassing that can happen to a fashion house is have their garments break mid show.
Summarising the collection, Karlsson stated the following:
“Right now, I feel the coolest attitude is exposing your vulnerability, carrying it as an accessory.”
