Retro Basketball Brilliance.
If you love the New Balance 550 but wish it came in a Hi-Top iteration, look no further than the 650 which has just dropped in two new colourways. Having received some attention already from the Aime Leon Dore collaboration that was initially released in July 2021, the model makes a comeback for the general public to enjoy without the exorbitant resell prices.
Unintentionally resembling the Lakers’ primary colours, the new shoes come in purple and yellow on a white leather base. Although seen as a spin-off on the low-cut model, the 650’s higher cut stays more true to retro basketball sneakers from the 80s through the more exaggerated proportions. The upper is comprised mainly of white leather with mesh detailing seen on the tongue and collar, the latter featuring puffed detailing to further reinforce the classic basketball sneakers from that era.
