PAUSE Picks: Top Sneaker Releases of the Week

Nike Zoom Vomero 5 'Photon Dust Chrome'

Kicking off this week’s round-up are Nike, who have re-emerged through the fog of New Balance and Salomon furore with the Zoom Vomero 5, which arrives in a ‘Photon Dust Chrome’ colourway. The recently popularised sneaker, which has become a worldwide hit online, takes cues from previous colourways by keeping it neutral and boasting a mesh upper composition along with futuristic silver panelling, a reflective Nike logo on the midfoot, signature CUSHLON and Zoom Air Cushioning, as well as typical Nike Swooshes on the rear heel. A good choice for the everyday grind.

Stüssy x Converse Chuck 70 Hi

The return of the Stüssy x Converse Chuck 70 Hi never looks to be too far away at any given point, with this latest entry into their joint collaborative universe being a standout ‘Fossil’ iteration. Staying true to the design codes of the previous releases, this latest iteration features the signature high-top shape of the Chuck 70 Hi as well as the midsole piping and metallic eyelets, with Stüssy’s creative injection arriving through a mini pearled “SS” design on the ankle, additional tongue branding, as well as the blanked out Converse Chuck Taylor patch on the inside ankle area. Summer is calling.

New Balance 990v1 'Green Gold'

It wouldn’t be a PAUSE round up without New Balance, and with this latest effort, springtime is definitely going to come a little easier as the American outfit debut the 990v1 ‘Green Gold’. Coming in a St. Patricks Day colour scheme of sorts, New Balance have most certainly struck gold with this one, with this pair boasting the typical rich and roughened suede overlays across the upper, which arrive in green, and unite this bold look with another green base as well as a striking dose of gold on the ‘N’ midfoot insignia. Keeping it minimal for the rest of the sneaker, creams and white adorns the tongue area and lacing as well as the midsole and heel counter add-on.

COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Terminator High

Bringing back a collaboration as old as time, COMME des GARÇONS and Nike have reunited for several iterations of the slept-on Terminator High silhouette. Laying out a solid black and white colourway, this latest drop between CDG and Nike keeps to the cues that were seen in the previous Terminator High releases, with this retro-styled high-top sneaker donning a rich leather upper composition with black overlays contrasting against the simple white toe box, midfoot and heel colour blocks, whilst bold “CDG” and “Nike” text sits on the heel of each respective shoe. A blast from the past.

BUY

Palace x UGG Classic Short Boot

Being the definition of “not everyone’s cup of tea”, the Palace x UGG Classic Short Boot has been doing the rounds for a while and now its finally time for budding sneaker heads to get their hands on the pair. Debuting in the typical ‘Chestnut’ colourway, this pair sees UK-born streetwear titans Palace add a striking (pardon the pun) dose of vibrant blue lightning all across the toe area, heel, midfoot and ankle, with standout “PALACE” lettering hitting the rear heel, just to let people know you’ve got it on.
