PAUSE Picks: Top Sneaker Releases of the Week

Gucci MAC80

Bouncing back with a luxurious bang, PAUSE’s picks this week start off with a new entry from Gucci, with their newest MAC80 lifestyle sneaker proving quite the hit amongst sneaker heads. The low-lying leather sneaker features a firmly simplistic design approach, with this particular pair arriving in a predominantly white colourway along with hits of rich green around the lacing area, heel, and outsole completing the limited colour palette. Other standouts include signature Gucci “GG” branding on midfoot and outsole, with a pre-aged midsole, simple white laces, and a “Gucci” branded tongue completing the central aspects. It’s treat yourself time.

JW Anderson x Wellipets 'Frog Clogs'

Hear us out. We know this might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it’s somebody’s, and that’s what matters. Putting forward the long-awaited – and highly divisive – JW Anderson collaboration with Wellipets, this set of yellow ‘Frog Clogs’ takes the idea of a conversation-starter to a whole new level. The low-top welly, which has historically been seen on Princess Diana, boasts a playful frog face design as well as a dose of subtle co-branded JW x Wellipets lettering on the upper, with additional features including hand-painted details, a waterproof rubber composition, a sturdy ladder grip sole, in addition to a comfort-centric wide fit style. Much like a frog, these will help you hop through the wet and windy weather with ease.

Peaceminusone x Nike Kwondo 1

Keeping the weird and wonderful going in this round-up are Nike and K-Pop superstar G-Dragon who have put forward the second iteration of their sneaker-come-dress shoe: the Peaceminusone x Nike Kwondo 1. Having already debuted in a triple white iteration back in 2022, this latest version arrives in a popular “Panda” style black and white colourway, with the Peaceminusone x Nike Kwondo 1 boasting a striking leather composition adorned with intricately-designed overlaying lace, wing-tip toe boxes, signature Nike Swooshes and PEACEMINUSONE floral heel graphics, thick lace shrouds and bottoms, with a solid dose of PEACEMINUSONE branding arriving on the previously mentioned lace shrouds as well.

adidas Campus 80s “Best Buds”

4/20 has become a staple date in every sneaker head’s calendar, with this latest effort from adidas rivalling their Nike counterparts for one of the best weed-themed releases of recent times. The adidas Campus 80s “Best Buds” sees the classic adidas silhouette boast a rough around the edges appearance, with a brown ‘rolling-like’ material on the outer being designed to be torn away to reveal a green suede underlay, hence the 4/20 release date. Additional tie-dye patterned trims and insoles adds that extra hippy feel, with tonal suede adidas Three Stripes and flat laces levelling out the ambitious effort. It may not be 4/20 anymore, but it’s never too late to lay back and relax in a new pair of kicks.

Run The Jewels x Nike SB Dunk High

Arriving in a ‘Pink/Black’ colourway, this stark iteration of the Nike SB Dunk High by Run The Jewels continues their long line of successful Nike collaborations going. Never going a miss, a black pebbled leather adorns the base underlay material and a dose a pink pony hair pops out from the overlays, adding a eye-catching contrast, whilst a signature Run The Jewels styled gold jewel dubrae and a 3D jewel finish on the Swoosh makes the shoe known as a typical RTJ effort. Bringing in the standard procedures, Nike branding is spotted along the tongue as a pink outsole, pink laces, and a yellow heel tab round-out the unapologetically loud pair. An “ooh la la” moment.
