Rick Owens Once Again Reimagines Converse Chuck 70 with Latest DRKSHDW Offering

Arriving in Two Colourways.

After the widely successful release of his previous Converse x DRKSHDW efforts, Rick Owens is back with his sub-label as two colourful iterations of the Chuck 70 High come to light, being named the Laceless TURBODRK Chuck 70.

Following on from the distinct design codes and palettes of the previous releases, Converse x DRKSHDW continues down Rick Owens’ dark and disruptive path as the Laceless TURBODRK Chuck 70 receives its roll-out, with this updated iteration of the iconic Converse silhouette featuring an elastic gore insert along the tongue that offers a tight-fitting and secure slip-on fit, allowing sneaker heads to get rid of any laces. The high-top canvas pairs arrive in two ‘Hot Pink’ and ‘Dust’ colourways and additionally feature a ridged midsole complete with overlapping edges and co-branded tongue features, whilst Converse’s “Max Grind” process has been added to the TURBODRK outsole for the first time, utilising up to 40 percent reclaimed and reused rubber scraps from Converse’s footwear manufacturing process.

Unveiling his latest effort, Owens’ newest campaign continues his portrait series and this time around features feminist producer, musician, director, and performance artist, Peaches. In a statement about Peaches and the campaign, Owens stated the following:

“PEACHES IS A QUEER PIONEER. THE GRAPHIC, INTELLIGENT LYRICS OVER TIGHT BRUTAL ELECTRONIC BEATS HELPED MAKE A GENERATION OF FEMINIST WOMEN SINGERS REVEL IN AS MUCH SEXUAL CONTROL AS HAD BEEN TRADITIONALLY HELD BY THEIR MALE MUSICAL COUNTERPARTS,” said Owens. “SHE IS AN ESSENTIAL COUNTERBALANCE TO THE HOMOPHOBIC, MYSOGINIST ENERGY THAT IS STILL, UNFORTUNATELY, A FACT OF LIFE. HER SCRAPPY RESISTANCE AND FEROCITY ARE IN THE TRADITION OF THE RAMONES, WHO REPRESENT THE SPIRIT OF CONVERSE THE MOST TO ME.”

Both iterations of the Converse x DRKSHDW Laceless TURBODRK Chuck 70 are set to release alongside matching totes and bucket hats on May 16th via the Converse and Rick Owens websites.
