Having previously linked up back in the Fall/Winter 2018 season, Gucci and Major League Baseball are capitalising on the vintage-styled sports wave for a new capsule collection.
Joining together the various design codes of the two outfits, this latest Gucci x MLB collection follows on from the previous drop, which was designed by former creative director Alessandro Michele, keeping hold of the vibrant colour palettes, signature sports silhouettes, as well as nods to famous MLB teams. Extending the range of silhouettes for this drop, classic baseball must-haves include collegiate jackets, New Era caps, track pants, and NY caps, with Gucci bringing in their own sense of style with a selection of stand alone conversation-starters, with a standout vest, cut-off sleeve denim jacket, and knitted cardigan also making the cut.
Moving onto the headline-grabbers, some of the main standouts spotted in this line-up include the classic Pittsburgh Pirates x Gucci collegiate jacket, which arrives in shades of navy, yellow and red, a cream frilled button-down “NY” jacket, a pink and red heavy-knit Pittsburgh Pirates cardigan, as well as a vibrant all-over print cut-off sleeve denim jacket, which features teams such as the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, New York Mets, and more. Last on the list, accessories and footwear fill out the collection, such as a multicoloured “GG” necklace, Gucci Basket sneakers and loafers, gold frame sunglasses, and some signature socks.
