Matthew M. Williams’ position as Givenchy’s Creative Director has come under scrutiny in recent times, with many believing that he has had an underwhelming stint at the fashion house so far. However, this latest dose of imagery for upcoming footwear releases suggests he’s very much still hard at work.
Debuting what we can assume are upcoming seasonal 2024 drops, or potentially even efforts leading into 2025, this MMW designed range of Givenchy footwear sees the Illinois-born designer chase his utilitarian, army-style inspirations as various versions of a classic boot – as well as hiking and puddle styles – are reimagined in shades of black, brown, and orange and action-ready handmade vulcanised rubber outsoles and uppers add that sturdy attention to detail. A waterproof technical leads the way in terms of new entries, with one particular light brown pair seeing a moulded outer shell adorn a high-top silhouette that utilises hits of Givenchy iconography and lettering across the heel counter and toe box, whilst rope laces and a tonal outsole provide uniformity.
