The original fly boyz!
This year marks 50 years of Hip-Hop and it’s only right we take flight with the fly boyz themselves, the Diplomats many know as Dipset! In the group is Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Freekey Zekey and Julez Santana. Hip-hop’s style and fashion have pivoted back and forth, from baggy clothing to skinny, overzealous style to simple. It’s only fitting that we mention Dipset in the conversation about style that’s evolved within this community of culture; today we highlight some of their key fashion moments.

An abundance of jewellery is the hip-hop way for sure. Often when artists are on the verge of success they invest in a neck piece or 3 to signify just that! The use of necklaces, bracelets, huge diamond earrings etc. is definitely something Dipset are more than well-known for, we’ve seen artists of today including Drake, Roddy Ricch, Burna Boy to name a few still live by this unspoken but very visual mantra.

Bold, unique, fly and essence are some words we’d use to describe this group! Whether we’re talking about colour schemes, fabrics, accessories, or even their demeanour, Dipset represents what it means to be expressive. They don’t hold back or reserve anything in the tank, they just stay fly and flow with whatever they’re feeling, for that, we choose to PAUSE and appreciate how their impact on fashion still remains here today.
What sets them apart from many is their care for style and choice to wear pieces rather than big labels. Often the most branded item, in my opinion, you’ll see them wear is a New Era fitted cap, oh fresh sneakers too! The other pieces are ones you’ll have to be up on game about which means googling and doing a bit of research.
They are more than just a group of music artists, they are a lifestyle.
