PAUSE Picks: Top Sneaker Releases of the Week

Levi’s x New Balance 580

The duo you never knew you needed, Levi’s x New Balance, have teamed up to show some much needed love to the under-the-radar 580 silhouette. Having previously received a divisive Palace collaboration, the 580 silhouette is quickly becoming one of NB’s most underrated silhouettes, with this ‘Beige’ edition proudly utilising mixed beige suede with dark wash denim underlays, the iconic red Levi’s brand tag, purple and blue upper hits, as well as retro-styled multicoloured laces. A blast of the 80s.

Stussy x Nike Air Flight 89

Capturing the faux-vintage look to a tee, the Stüssy x Nike Air Flight 89 ‘Pecan’ sits pretty at our number two spot this week. The retro basketball sneaker is one of Stüssy’s best reimagined pairs to date, with a striking balance of Stüssy’s iconic “SS” iconography, scripture on the tongue, and typical snakeskin patterning levelling out with Nike’s signature brown colour blocking, heavily-branded uppers, as well as a comfort-centric midsole Air bubble. What’s not to like?

Converse x Wonka Chuck 70 High

Give in to your wildest child-like fantasies with the newly-released Converse x Wonka Chuck 70 High. Riding the hype train of the Timothée Chalamet-lead Wonka (2023) movie – which hits cinemas today – the Converse x Wonka Chuck 70 High “Oompa Loompa” provides an always welcome dose of colour to any sneaker rotation, with an expected soft orange canvas hitting the upper alongside tonal green and orange piping, rear “Wonka” heel branding, as well as conversation-starting fluffy green laces. Yum.

BUY

BLACK COMME des GARCONS x Nike Tennis Classic

Sick of the rinse and repeat Nike Air Force 1? Despite the triple white pair’s staple place in sneaker culture, a switch-up is always welcome and BLACK COMME des GARCONS have taken the Christmas reigns, teaming up with Nike for their ‘Tennis Classic’ silhouette. The straight to the point feature an all-white leather composition and a low-riding shape, with a subtle dose of CDG branding arriving on the heel and insole. A subtle flex for your everyday rotation.

BUY

JJJJound x Reebok CL Nylon

Rounding things out with a minimal entry are the JJJJound x Reebok CL Nylons, a sneaker that needs no introduction to the eye. A pair cemented in British history, the iconic silhouette boasts a typical grey JJJJound colour scheme here as well as the usual hits of “JJJJound” upper lettering, with a cushioned sole unit, rich smooth suede panelling, and soft sock linings putting a luxe touch forward in the most indiscreet way possible.
